Nexus S & Motorola Xoom Not Getting Android 4.2 Update

Google announced the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 10 a few weeks back and alongside the announcement they also announced Android 4.2 Jellybean which is the latest iteration of android. Currently the 4.2 update is rolling out for the GSM Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 7 is the next to receive the update. With that said the Nexus S and Motorola Xoom is left out for the 4.2 update. Today Google’s Jean-Baptiste Queru notes that “there is no support for 4.2 on Nexus S and Xoom. Those devices should continue using 4.1.2″. There is a logical reason why these device did not receive the update is because the hardware is not up to date and the performance might deteriorate over time. But nevertheless the AOSP ROM has hit developers and you can rest assured that there devices will be having lots of 4.2 custom ROMS.
